My four years in the Army gave me my first leadership opportunity and the chance to put myself through college. After 25 years of working compassionately with individuals, families and communities as a social worker, I am now a University Professor instilling in students the determination to work for a future where everyone has a chance for success. My parent's hard path out of poverty taught me never to look to someone else to do a job I was unwilling to do myself. I am deeply committed to stepping forward to responsibility and leadership. I am strong enough to ask hard questions, smart enough to realize when I don't get a full answer, and perceptive enough to truly listen. As a city councilmember, I will focus on the critical issues of crime, housing, employment and creating livable communities as well as on a Council that is open and responsive to Stocktonians.
