San Marcos has several very nice neighborhoods that have attracted many of us to where we now live.
There is intense pressure from outside the city to continue projects that will disrupt or even destroy some of these neighborhoods.
More than 80% of all traffic in San Marcos is transitory in nature...meaning it's people passing thru. It will always be this way since we're on the 78 corridor.
However, there are some that want to extend main arteries north south thru the city to accomodate MORE outsiders to clog our streets and divide our neigborhoods.
Specifically is the move to widen Discovery to 6 lanes, widen Deer Springs, extend Las Posas thru existing neighborhoods all to accomodate commuters from Riverside County to avoid I-15.
Las Posas serves Santa Fe Hills just fine. Twin Oaks serves Twin Oaks Valley Ranch just fine. Adding more traffic will only destroy these neighborhoods. We will be accomodating people from outside the area as they commute thru the city. The burden of upkeep, traffic mitigation and the loss of value to our neighborhoods will be borne by the residents of San Marcos.
Let's preserve our neighborhoods and put the burden of commuting back to the State. Keep the flow thru commuters on Hwy 78 and I-15.
