Betty Rexford was elected to the Poway City Council in November 1994 and served as Deputy Mayor in 1997, 2003, and currently in 2006. Ms. Rexford has served the City on several advisory committees including: Budget Review, Transportation Task Force, Migrant Workers Housing, Redevelopment & Housing, Friends of Blue Sky, and the General Plan. She is also involved in many community activities, having served as Board of Director Vice President "For Parents and Kids Sake" and President for the Creek Road Homeowners Association. Currently, Council member Rexford serves as Poway's representative on the SANDAG Housing Advisory Committee, San Dieguito River Valley JPA, Goodan Ranch Subcommittee, and NAS Miramar Community Leader's Forum and PBPA Poway Business Park Association. She also serves on the Community Fine Arts Advisory Committee and is the City's Economic Development representative. In 2003, Ms. Rexford was appointed as the City member of the San Diego Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO), and she is also a Board member of the California Elected Women's Association for Education and Research (CEWAER). Betty was appointed in 2005 and 2006 to the League of California Cities Housing Policy Committee. Betty was appointed in 2005 and 2006 to service on the California Contract Cities Association Legislative Committee. Betty was awarded the 1999 Corporate Partner Certificate presented by Pacific Bell at the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Bravo! Award ceremony, and in March 2002, she was presented the Soroptimist Woman of Distinction, Economic and Social Development, Commendation. In 2005 achieved the league of California highest level of Academy leadership in Action, Basic leadership, Advanced leadership, and leadership in action. Betty is a 39-year Poway resident. She and her husband, Paul, have one son, Kevin, and two granddaughters, Alexa and Hannah. Betty has an Academic Degree in Social Science and certificate of Continuing Education in Alcohol and Drug Studies from UCSD. |
