We have lived in Ramona for 11 years...My wife, Connie and I have two grandchildren in our schools. My family supports and is involved in many community activities ... Involved in budget committees and the district's building program...I am a fiscal conservative..the taxpayers I know are not against kids or the classroom. They are against bureaucratic waste and inefficiency..
The budget singulary is the most significant policy statement made by the Board. I would encourage more community input.. .We all must work to provide a safe, secure and wholesome enviornment for students and employees... student safety is a must but should not be done under a cloud of fear...Maintaining a sound financial base is mandatory...Repayment of the $25,000,000 Certificate of Deposit (loan) used to build schools is problematic ..Relying on developer fees and a bond election is ill advised... declining enrollment and deficit financig is exacerbating our financial problems...A contingency plan must be prepared... turning the problem over to a committee will not help...about all a committee can do is list possible cuts...Without a strong financial base everything crumbles...
When I drive by our schools I find them more inviting than I did a few years ago..I personaly would like the schools much smaller...I'm thankful we have the schools and programs all children have a opportunity to grow...in the final analysis education is growth and an end in-itself..
My attorney son's admonition to me is.."Dad you always have a good case until you hear the other side"...I think all candidates have a case...the voters are the jury ..When I taught, be it, in the Army, University or High School, I always learned more collectvely from students than they from me..
Our students are 20 percent of our population but 100 percent of our future...I would appreciate your vote...and would be honored to be your representative on the Ramona Board of education...
