PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR SHANNON O'DUNN Shannon was born in Midland, Texas, in 1944. Married Charles G. `Mike' Bemis in 1979. Son Cullen born 1980; daughter Carling born 1986. Mike and Shannon moved to La Mesa in 1980. Her leisure interests are natural history, painting and drawing, and fiber arts. EDUCATION BA, Geology, SDSU, with Honors, and with Distinction in Geology, 1965 MS Geology, University of Colorado, Boulder, 1969 MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE 7/00-6/05 Dean, Communication and Fine Arts Division, Grossmont College
Managed a $4.5 million/year instructional division including Art, Communication, Dance, Media Communication, Music, and Theatre Arts; 34 full-time and 70 part-time faculty, and 10 classified employees. Served on 8 construction task forces for Prop `R'. 1986-1993 Director, Grants and Contract Instruction, Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District
Originated and managed programs with Jin'ai Women's Junior College, University of Okinawa, and Tokyo Foreign Language College; created and managed the American Collegiate English (ACE) Program; Co-Principal Investigator, National Science Foundation Marine Sciences Short Course grant, Univ. of San Diego,1990-1994; wrote dozens of funded CCC Fund for Instructional Improvement grants for faculty; raised $10,000 for Cuyamaca College Ornamental Horticulture from the Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust.
