Candidate for
Board Member; Del Mar Union School District

Martha Murphy is an active and dedicated community leader with a passionate focus on our schools. Mrs. Murphy was the inaugural PTA President for Torrey Hills Elementary School, after previously serving as PTA Vice President for Del Mar Hills Academy. She has served on the boards of directors of both the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation and the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, serving as an officer on both boards. Mrs. Murphy also has served on the Advisory Board of the Torrey Hills YMCA. In addition to her Board roles and commitments, she has volunteered in the classrooms of the Del Mar Schools where her children attended, frequently served as room parent, chaired the Torrey Hills School Site Council, and volunteered for the Del Mar Union School District annual strategic planning effort. Mrs. Murphy also volunteers to help lead the high school group at Canyon Hills Community Church in Carmel Valley. Academically, she earned her BA degree in Psychology from UCLA. Martha and her husband of 20 years are raising four children that have attended Del Mar district schools, and they have recently taken into their care their 2 year old grandnephew.
