Four years ago the most important issues in the race for school board to me were; 1) the challenge to teach math, literacy and science while making sure teachers had the training and tools to enable each child to reach their potential; 2) Making sure that children knew they were safe and protected at school and that each adult be responsible for the safety of every child; and 3) that I would watchdog spending and seek alternative funding sources. Since 2002, we have engaged in several partnerships that have addressed many of these issues - San Diego State University, Reuben H. Fleet Science project, Classroom of the Future Foundation, Cox Communications, Pulliam Group, Qualcomm, Microsoft and DT Research just to name a few. I have attended many state and local budget workshops and the California Finance and Manaagement conferences. I supported full-day kindergarten and pre-school for all. My goal for the next four years is to continue to support targeting curriculum to the individual needs of students along with advancing technology to improve the home-school connection. I will continue to support recruting and retaining quality educators.
