Patty Chavez was appointed unanimously by the Chula Vista City Council to fill a vacant seat for an 11-month term. Chavez has been active in community and neighborhood issues for years working on traffic, graffiti and safety. As a community activist, Patty has actively advertised city happenings, events, forums, and is working to bring more information to busy citizens on current City issues such as the General Plan and Urban Core Specific Plan. By providing opportunities for citizens to get informed and voice opinions, Patty diligently works to make sure everyone is heard. As a council member, she has continued to work on building a stronger community. By helping to establish neighborhood associations, opening the line of communication between city and community, and working on safer conditions for children as they walk to school, Patty has continued to put the citizens of Chula Vista first. Patty is working to bring more attention to improving city infrastructure (especially in the southwest region). A lifelong resident of Southern California, Patty is fluent in Spanish. She was raised in a working class family in Van Nuys. She and her husband, Richard, moved to Rancho Del Rey in 1999. They have three children, Jacob, Madelin and Paul. The Chavez family enjoys road trips, the beach, camping, spending time with family and friends, and is active in the church. |
