Cuyamaca College and Grossmont College staffs have, in recent years, grown suspicious of each other's motives.
Grossmont and Cuyamaca Colleges have split over many issues. The primary one is over the current "allocation model". Funds allocated to each college from the district office is supposedly 70% to Grossmont and 30% to Cuyamaca based on student population. However, there is discention over this model, whether this model is being followed, is the actual funding fair, whether it should be changed, etc. The staff on both campuses have logical arguments for their cases. The administration and board have not resolved this rift.
I intend to tackle this division through listening to all sides and groups and helping mediate a solution. Listening is the primary function of a board member and I intend to do alot of it.
