As an educator for 35 years and an administrator with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education for 25, I know firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing our schools. I have been Administrator for preschool through high school Special Education, Director of Alternative Education programs for Santa Cruz County, elected to state educational offices, and developed Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredited programs to serve our county's diverse students. The Watsonville City Council honored me for "passion and bringing positive change to youth". The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors honored me for "visionary leadership". As Superintendent I will: Put students' needs first, seek parent and community advice, and raise our voice in Sacramento Recruit and retain quality teachers Ensure sound financial management and wise use of taxpayers' dollars Partner with business to prepare students for careers Provide effective, innovative leadership and service to school districts Santa Cruz County needs strong leadership. As Superintendent, I will be the number one advocate for education. Endorsed by county teachers and known throughout California for developing effective school programs, I will bring the necessary experience and commitment to move this office forward. Please vote for me and give me the opportunity to bring direction and purpose to our schools. |
