As a parent and a neighborhood and community leader, I am running for the San Jose City Council to protect and improve the quality of life for our families and our neighborhoods.

I believe I am the best candidate for the City Council for service as an elected official is an extension of my lifetime of advocacy for families and neighborhoods. As a social worker and a non-profit executive, I have dedicated my entire professional and personal life in service of individuals, families and communities. I have a real record of improving the quality of life in San Jose.

As a city commissioner serving on the Appeals Hearing Board, I have worked to ensure greater compliance of our code enforcement laws. As a neighborhood leader, I have promoted smart growth principles and have personally organized several community-building neighborhood activities that have beautified our city. As an appointed official to several city and county commissions, I have advocated for an improved public education system and for a better transportation network.

In March 2006, I was awarded a commendation by the San Jose City Council for my commitment to the non-profit community and for my years of volunteerism.

For the past six years, District 6 has been well served by Councilmember Ken Yeager and I will lead in a similar fashion. I will work to protect and improve the quality of life for our families and our vintage neighborhoods through:

  • Providing high-quality neighborhood and constituent services + my top priority;
  • Restoring faith in our city government; and
  • Promoting smart growth principles that will create livable and walkable communities while protecting our environment.

Our residents deserve elected officials who are innovative, entrepreneurial, inclusive and responsive. I view this city through my daughter's eyes and will vigorously promote programs and policies that honor the legacy of past generations while protecting the interests of our future generations.
