Letter to Residents

By Dean Warshawsky

Candidate for Council Member; Town of Los Altos Hills

This information is provided by the candidate
After evaluating how much we've accomplished in the past 4-years and the important issues that remain to be resolved - I felt that it was important to finish the job by seeking another 4-year term as your representative on the Los Altos Hills City Council.
On November 7th you will have an opportunity to elect two members to the Los Altos Hills City Council. As your current Mayor, I thought long and hard about running for re-election.

Since first elected in 2002, my wife Lee Ann and I have started a family and now have a son, Jake. As expected our lives are very busy and we are constantly (as are many families) seeking to balance my community service obligations with our family life.

However, after evaluating how much we've accomplished in the past 4-years and the important issues that remain to be resolved - we decided that it was important to finish the job by seeking another 4-year term as your representative on the Los Altos Hills City Council.

Important work that needs to be completed:

  • Continue the progress we are making on infrastructure improvements - roads, sewers, undergrounding utilities as well as improving cell phone coverage to acceptable levels
  • Public education - ensuring that residents get express their desires on this issue by a Public vote
  • Quality of life - develop and expand recreational opportunities for residents to get more use from town assets such as Westwind Community Barn and our open space.
  • Public input - continue to encourage residents to present their ideas and address their concerns regarding personal property rights, open space, and home size
  • Fiscal Management - complete our capital projects while maintaining our reserves at a satisfactory level to ensure that our Town continues in healthy financial shape

It has been very rewarding to be part of a city council that has returned civility to the community and provided solid stewardship to maintain our open space and rural ambience + while at the same time providing the essential leadership that our community demands and deserves.

Representing your interests and concerns not a simple task of black and white decisions. Almost every issue carries shades of nuance between simplistic extremes - that take thoughtful analysis, experience, and clarity of input from you the residents. I believe the last four years have equipped me better than ever to represent all the residents of our town.

Finally it is important that Los Altos Hills provides the same type of leadership in the area of our public education. I will continue to represent the interests of our Town before the local, regional and state authorities with the goal to resolve the issue and bring it to our voters.

I look forward to representing your interests and would be honored to have your vote on November 7th.
