By Heidi Pham

Candidate for Council Member; City of Milpitas

This information is provided by the candidate
Open space, well maintained parks and hillside preservation are important to all our citizens.
We can protect the environment in many ways. First, we must protect the hills that are so important to all the citizens who live in Milpitas. We can take pride in the beautiful hillsides. We can prevent unnecesary development in the hills - not only to preserve the beauty and diversity, but to avoid the high cost of providing city services to hillside development.

We need to look at ways to slow global warming by saving and/or generating clean and local energy. It is important for city buildings to be as 'green' as possible, especially looking at energy conservation in the new library currently being built. We need to ensure those who develop in our community be looking at the long-term savings generated with solar panels, etc.
