Questions & Answers

1. What experience related to city government would you bring to the City Council?

I have a proven track record of serving the City of Santa Clara both locally and regionally.

In my 8 years representing the Cities of Santa Clara County on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission I have a record of bringing in thousands of dollars worth of transportation grants to help inprove our regional traffic problems and to prepare to have BART arrive in Santa Clara in 2014.

In my 8 years on the Santa Clara City Council as an active Council Person I supported projects throughout the City of Santa Clara such as the creation of a 40 acre natural area park on the Guadalupe River, the new central library, the new senior center, the new fire training center, the new Police building, the new Kaiser Hospital, the north-side soccer field, and many more. My efforts have focused to improve the quality of life of all citizens in the City.

2. What concerns are of particular importance to the city and how would you address them?

We need to make a quantum leap to entice new businesses into our industrial and commercial zones. I have the business experience to help communicate with both large and small businesses to help them grow with the help of the city services. I was the Chair of the Economic Development team in 2003 and 2004 as well as a member of the team from 1996 through 2004. I am currently a member of the SC Chamber of Commerce as a small business person. The success of our businesses helps supply a tax base that is then used by our city to fund the public resources our people and families use.

For more info on issues around my Santa Clara First platform, public safety and health and renewable resources please access my campaign website at http://www.McLemoreforMayor.com

3. How would you balance the needs of the City as a whole with groups' interests?

I have proven ability to reach across different groups and make them a part of the city process. With my thirty years of business experience in high tech and twenty years of non-profit boards of directors experiences I know what goes on inside large and small organizations and can help create a dialogue for success.

It takes a positive outlook to help organizations be successful and understand the importance of including all stakeholders in the City's decision-making processes.

I've spent my life balancing a marriage, a child, 26 years serving our Country in the US Army Reserves, the demands of high tech management and my years of community service. It takes a lot of listening, evaluating and doing. It takes time and the willingess to reach out. It means being fully present. I will continue to do that.
