Position Papers
Fiscal Solvency Crisis in the SB Elementary District
I call for a fiscal solvency audit of the SB Elementary District with an eye toward closing a school.
Workforce Housing on School Land in Eastern Goleta and Hidden Valley
"Revenue enhancement" has become a mantra at the SB School District. It is code for making money from high-density real estate development on district lands. My view is that the District should have the discipline to live within its means, as the vast majority of school districts do.
Classrooms v. Swimming Pools: Misplaced Priorities
Luxury swimming pools at two high schools are costing the District over $8.3 million. $6 million of that came from funds, which should have been used for new permanent classrooms, for refurbishment and for modernization.
