Rodney Stanhope was born in Benicia California in 1967. In the early years, his Grandfather and Grandmother introduced Rodney to the political arena by instilling in him the desire to give of himself to those who are less fortunate. From selling candy bars for youth baseball to feeding the homeless. Rodney has always been involved in non-profit organizations or volunteering his time to help others. He began his political experience in 1984 when in high school posting a President Reagan yard sign on his front lawn. After graduation, Rodney enlisted the US Navy. Once his tour of duty was complete, he then located to Sacramento in which the first thing was to enlist his services to assist with fund raising for Muscular Dystrophy Association with Mark S. Allen of FM102.5. With his career in radio, he was then able to promote, create, and develop a wide variety of fund raising events throughout the Sacramento Region, from United Way, March of Dimes, Run to Feed the Homeless, and many others. While attending American River College, Rodney became involved with the Pete Wilson for Governor Campaign as the volunteer coordinator on campus as well as becoming involved in the fund raising for the military families during Operation Desert Storm. With the invasion in Afghanistan and Iraq, Rodney then became involved in fund raising using his extensive connections both political and from the business communities and from the Chamber of Commerce of multiple cities. In November of 2003, Rodney created and assisted with the development of "Toys for Troops Kids" where he lived in a Tough Shed for 12 days during the 12 days of Christmas to raise money to provide toys for children of military troops deployed. In 18 days "Toys for Troops Kids" raised nearly Two Hundred Thousand Dollars. Rodney also works closely with CalVet to assist military veterans purchase their first home. |
