Accomplishments as Sacramento Suburban Board Member · Successful consolidation of two water districts, improving service, saving ratepayers over $1million/year, eliminating elected and administrative positions. · Completion of the first new water supply (American River water) for the District's southern service area in 50 years, drought-proofing the District. · Led effort to develop first District Strategic Plan: http://www.sswd.org/about_us/sswd_strategic_plan.htm · Helped secure over $2.3 million in State grant funding, lowering ratepayer expenses for capital facilities improvements. · Supported capital improvement program to rebuild aging District facilities and assure a high-quality, reliable supply of water. · Spurred investigation into fraud and wrongdoing of former Northridge Water District management and board members, resulting in successful criminal prosecution of managers and resignation of offending Board members. · Supported and signed the Sacramento Area Water Forum agreement assuring reliable water supplies and environmental protection for the lower American River. · Supported expanded District water conservation programs, rewarding and supporting customers who conserve water. · Led the Sacramento Groundwater Authority as chairman, seeking regional solutions to water supply problems and groundwater protection and management. Current Objectives · Continue rebuilding and refurbishing water delivery system · Assure reasonable water rates and charges · Investment in water supply not Board benefits and pay · Contain personnel costs and benefits · Pursue cooperative regional groundwater management plan · Protect the lower American River · Implement the landmark Water Forum Agreement · Pursue beneficial water conservation efforts · Protect water quality |
