Candidate for
Board Member; Center Unified School District

My name is Nancy Anderson. I have had the honor of representing you on the Center Unified School District Board of Trustees for 12 years. I was elected President of the Board three times. My husband Larry and I have lived in the area our entire lives. We were married 32 years ago and have 2 sons, Jason and Mike. I spent 15 years volunteering in local Little Leagues providing the children in our area with a safe after-school activity. I have completed the Masters of Governance Program, Served on the District Audit Committee, Budget Committee, School Site Councils, PTA and many more.

I first decided to run for the school board after being involved as a volunteer in the classroom, on district committees and with the PTA. I was concerned that money was not getting into the classroom where it was needed the most. One of the board's first actions after I took office was to cut administrative staff, returning money to the classroom. Although we have had many budget cuts since then, we have been able to maintain class size reduction in grades K-3. We opened a new middle school and are in the planing stages of several more new schools so that we will be prepared when the growth starts. Our budget is balanced, We are upgrading and improving our technology infrastructure. Over the next 5 years all of our student computers will be replaced as well, allowing our students to be trained on the most up to date equipment. Every year our API test scores just keeping climbing higher. Our students are learning and testing at levels that put us among the best in the state, but that's not good enough, I want to see our scores at the top of the nation! We are continuously looking for ways to improve our program.

I started out wanting to make a difference in the education all of our children received. I feel that I have made a difference and ask for your support so that I may continue to make a difference in the future of our children and our community.
