Candidate for
Council Member; City of Perris

This information is provided by the candidate

I AM A CHRISTIAN; I am a husband; I am a father and grandfather; and I am a local businessman. And, Lord willing, should you decide to support my effort to reform city leadership, I will be one of your City Councilmen. However, you should know, that though I will represent you to the best of my ability and diligently pursue what is in the best interests of the citizens of Perris, I would not allow that to supersede my commitments to my God and my loved ones.

I have lived in and around Perris for the past 23 years. My wife of 30 years, Kathy, and I have raised 4 children; not all successfully. I spent 4 years in the US Navy, as an Electronics Technician, on submarines in the early 1960's. I have been in real estate since 1977; and a broker for 27 years. I have worked primarily in the sale and development of vacant land, working both with the city/county and the developer. I fully understand the planning process, although I no longer pursue my real estate career on an active basis. And I definitely know the importance of good, reasoned planning for the future of a healthy community and the well being of its citizens. And the impacts of today's decisions on tomorrow's communities.

My wife Kathy and I are very active in prison ministry, going into the prisons on a weekly basis to share the life changing Gospel with the inmates. We are also actively involved in a local Church, which is in reality a program of restoration/rehabilitation for those bound in addictions. My passion is for changed lives; which produces people committed to God's standard of ethics and morality as taught in His Bible; which can result in a safe, family friendly community of law abiding citizens. A community, I might add, where lawlessness is neither practiced nor tolerated. Witness that my position statement on "CRIME" far outweighs any other. I am convinced that lawlessness destroys the heart and soul of a community, just as it does that of an individual. The future health of the City of Perris will be determined far more by the lives of its citizens than by its roads, its houses, or its commercial/industrial base. IF THE PEOPLE ARE GOOD, THE GROWTH WILL BE GOOD; if the people are lawless, no amount of growth will produce a city we desire to live in!

Finally, the biggest question of all: Why do I think that I would be a good city councilman for you? Simply put, BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BE! I've long thought that the best person to elect to office is someone who doesn't want the job, but is willing and qualified. We must stop electing people who seek the power of position, the status that goes with the title, or the enhancement of their own personal fortunes or business. We need elected representatives whose desire is to change the direction of our city's future for the betterment of all, and willingly step aside when the time is obvious for another to take over. People who cling to public office rarely change directions!

THE FUTURE OF PERRIS LIES WITH THOSE WHO MAKE THE GREATEST EFFORT TODAY!
