Why people should vote for me.

By Edwardo Dominguez

Candidate for Board Member; Temecula Valley Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I am a candidate with traditional fiscal, social and political conservative values.
I have a new vision for the District as well as for the School Board, and that is, to form a consensus which coalesces with the values of the community. Constituents should vote for me if they share this vision.

My goal for the Temecula Valley School District is simple: to provide the highest quality education for our children while minimizing the cost to the taxpayer. There are challenges currently confronting the School Board which need to be addressed in a proactive manner.

Among the challenges requiring urgent action by the Board are:

1. illegal immigrants draining resources
2. setting administrative priorities
3. school curriculum should better reflect community standards
4. improve relationship with teachers and their unions

Illegal immigration is a national and local problem which must be addressed on both fronts. Our schools face federal requirements which are funded only if the administration fulfills certain reporting criteria, most notably, reporting the number of children of illegal aliens the school educates. Some administrators are reluctant to carry out such reporting for fear of offending certain groups. This inaction affects our children by forcing budget expenditures from the general budget in order to fund programs which do not directly benefit the children of legal immigrants or American citizens.

The school curriculum should reflect community standards and, as most people are aware, the current curriculum appears to further the political agendas of some, rather than to ensure our children's educational preparedness as they prepare for the challenges of the 21st century.

Friction between the School Board and the Union recently caused a divergence from what should be the goal of the school, and that is to provide a consistent approach to delivering a quality education to our students.
