Top Priorities for Cypress School District

Developing a child's maximum potential, supporting the TEAM and committing time & energy

I will continue to help move the Cypress School District to identify each of our students by name and need. Every student is a valuable member of the community. As we strive for excellence it is important that we look at the whole child. The key to maximizing a child's potential is to focus them as individuals.

To that end we must support innovative teaching techniques. Not all children learn in the same ways. Our population of english language learners is increasing. Maintaining or increasing music, art and science programs is an important component necessary to inhance the other areas of learning.

The family atmosphere can be critical to the student's self esteem, thus improving learning. This also promotes support among the staff. Many teachers rely on volunteers that do not have students in their classrooms.

Modernization of our aging facilites is something that must be planned for. Currently technology is affected by the limitations of our facilities. There are many exciting technologies out there, my goal is to get it into the classrooms.

I do not hold employment outside of the Cypress School Board. I am on track to complete Califonria School Boards Association's (CSBA) Masters in Goverenance Program October 21, 2006. I will continue to commit the time and energy necessray to be an informed and effective leader.
