Joe Shaw was born at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. He's the son of retired Air Force veteran Joe Shaw Sr. and Kathleen Shaw. Joe's mother was a Baptist Sunday School Teacher and school nurse's aide for 30 years. He has three brothers and two sisters, four nephews and a niece.

A resident of Downtown Huntington Beach, Joe Shaw is the owner of two successful Huntington Beach retail stores, California Greetings and The HB Store. He serves on the board of the Downtown Huntington Beach Business Improvement District and is a member of the Huntington Beach Visitors and Convention Bureau's Public Relations Committee.

After graduating from Cal State LA with a bachelor's degree in Journalism, Joe created numerous award-winning communications programs for for several Los Angeles area non-profit social services agencies, including the Braille Institute. Joe's a longtime community volunteer and his stores have helped our local schools raise money for needed projects. He currently volunteers for an Orange County animal rescue organization, saving lives of abandoned pets through home placement efforts.
