Shortage of adequate athletic facilities.By Mike ScheaferCandidate for Council Member; City of Costa Mesa | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The city has a huge shortage of adequate, properly equipped athletic fields for our kids. The youth of Costa Mesa need more, better equipped fields in order to fully take advantage of the opportunity to play sports and recreate. The current Council majority has done little, if anything, to enhance the situation. The only new fields coming on line are due to my efforts when I was on the City Council. We owe the kids better facilities. We can work on improving the joint use agreement, we can work with owners of excess land (the State, etc.) to find ways to build fields. We do not have to destroy existing areas, as was proposed by Mansoor and Leece, such as the Costa Mesa Golf Course, in order to build fields. |
