My husband, David, and I have been married for 30 years and have lived in Huntington Beach since 1978. We are co-owners of an Internet services business here in the city. We own our home in the downtown neighborhood and are the proud parents of three children who all attended Smith Elementary, Dwyer Middle School and Huntington Beach High School. I have volunteered in the school districts for over 20 years, starting as a classroom volunteer and progressing to PTA president of all three schools as well as Huntington Union Council. I was also a member of the successful Measure C bond committee for the high school district 2 years ago, and prior to that, participated in the elementary school district's successful attempts at securing a bond, working hard to acquire much needed funding to update our local school campuses. For several years I worked as a substitute teacher in the HBCSD as well as in the high school district's adult education school, teaching classes at Rogers Senior Center. I also taught adult classes through Coastline Community College prior to the birth of my third child.

Holding positions of president, executive vice president, parliamentarian, legislative representative, secretary, and other offices in several levels of PTA, I have planned and chaired innumerable meetings, organized budgets and taught workshops. I have also held positions of responsibility in other non-profit groups such as the American Artists of Chinese Brush Painting, Boy Scouts of America, and the HBHS Band Boosters. I have taken, as well as taught, conferences in legislation and parliamentary procedure and am a member of the American Association of University Women and Women For: Orange County.

Because of my teaching experience on every school campus in the City School District and my volunteer work in the organized parent groups as well as on school site councils, site and district strategic planning committees, and community advisory committees, I am well known by many parents, teachers, administrators, campus staff and current board members. My most recent direct experience in the City School District issues was that of Asset Management Committee member and 7/11 Committee member throughout the 2005/06 school year, so I am very well aware of community concerns about our dwindling open spaces and loss of neighborhood schools. I feel I can be a very effective advocate for our students, staff and school community as an elected HBCSD Trustee.
