Competent and Reliable: Refereed in 4 Olympic Games, Munich 1972, Montreal 1976, Los Angeles 1984 and Seoul 1988. He is the only American water polo referee who has officiated in this many games and this demonstrates reliability and competence.

Married to Lynn, his wife, for the past 43 years. Our two children, Tommy and Carrie, both attended Golden West College in the Coast Community College District. They then attended Cal Berkeley from which they graduated. This clearly demonstrates the Hermstad's belief in the community college system.
