Full Biography for Nancy Gardner

Born and raised in Newport Beach, I got my love of the ocean from my father, Judge Gardner, who taught me to surf at local beaches. A co-founder of the Newport chapter of Surfrider, I have spent the last sixteen years working on water quality issues. I wrote a grant that garnered the city $230,000 for Buck Gully and Little Corona. As co-chair of the General Plan Advisory Committee, I helped shape new policies that protect the environment, preserve the residential character of the city, promote better traffic management systems and provide for open space opportunities with Banning Ranch. My work experience has been about building consensus and getting things done. As marketing director for Century 21 Real Estate Corporation, I had the responsibility of getting 9,000 offices to work at a common purpose. Later, I was recruited by federal regulators to help rehabilitate a failed savings loan with significant financial and personnel problems. We were able to solve those problems and get the institution sold and off the government's books. |
