Selecting a new Superintendent will be the most important action taken this termBy Jeff ElghanayanCandidate for Board Member; Laguna Beach Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The Superintendent brings life to all the policies of the Board. The new superintendant will be of the highest caliber and needs to be a good quick fit into the school environmentOur district relies on a superintendent to administer the policies established by the school board. The board has the dual roles of creating policies, which may originate from the administration or the board itself, and for the board to have oversight to assure that the adopted policies are being carried out. I will seek to find a candidate who is visible and transparent, who can engage the office at the current level and continue to run the operations of the schools promptly, efficiently with open discourse and thorough analysis. Decision Making: Timely implementation of effective decisions. The School Board is constantly working to decide policy through the process of investigation and public hearings. Decisions and actions need to be taken before the facts underlying the case get stale. The confidence of the School Board's constituency depends on full understanding by all parties of a well researched and reasoned decision. Time will tell, but time is what is in short supply when the decisions need to be made. Great care and diligence must be taken to craft the best long-range plan that can stand the test of time in order to offer fair and equal benefits to all for years to come. Regardless of my views, I will always seek to support whatever the approved policies are and see that they are carried out. |
