Providing an adaquete supply of quality water may be the biggest challenge facing California cities in the next 40 years.
With less water from the Colorado River (due to Arizona and Nevada wanting there fair share because of the population growth in those two states), and Northern California keeping more water in that region (that used to flow South), and with more "users" taking water from the Orange County Aquifer, we face a serious challange in future years. The GWRS project will help alleviate the problem by providing highly treated waste water(cleaner than any water we now drink)to replenish the Aquifer. When I was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Sanitation District I helped put together the working arrangement with the Orange County Water District to create the GWRS project. I continually monitor this program to ensure Fountain Valley's water supply is protected.
