Goals 1. Close the Latino learning gap. 2. Live within our budgetary means and monitor spending closely. 3. Remove portables and replace with safe and clean classrooms and toilet facilities. 4. Raise reading comprehension levels. 5. Downsize school populations and make class sizes manageable. Strategies for each goal 1. Continuously monitor achievement levels and use effective supplemental materials that target Latino sucess. 2. Audit the books and create open and business-like accounts. 3. Orient the budget toward investment in classrooms. 4. Increase student knowledge of background information as a basis for reading comprehension. 5. Better use statistical surveys to bring school construction in line with expected growth and declines in student enrollment. I would also consult my Education Advisory Committee. --Williamson M.
