To save what is left of our western hills and provide public trails to their ridgetop, we need a third vote on the Council. These hills remain in great jeopardy of becoming a gated community solely for the wealthy. With a third vote we can find the funding to purchase title in some cases and in others simply open space easements. As stated in our General Plan "preserving the hills on the western side of the Ukiah Valley will provide environmental benefits to the Valley. Additionally the hillsides are an aesthetic and visual resource fundamental to Ukiah residents and to the tourist industry and they add economic value to property throughout the valley." |
