As the Rosedale School District continues to grow in population, it is evident that more schools are needed to deal with the increased enrollment. My concern is that we provide quality functional schools but without putting a strangle hold around the throats of the taxpayers in the Rosedale School District through property taxes and future bond measurements and assessments.

Right now, according to the California Department of Education, all Rosedale schools are classified as low performing schools in the similar schools ranking. Half of our schools are considered WELL BELOW average and the other half are classified as below average for schools with similar characteristics. The Rosedale School District has also failed to meet the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) requirements three of the last four years. Improving student achievement is a vital issue that needs to be addressed if our children are going to have the skills and knowledge to compete in an ever growing economy.

Our schools are a direct reflection of the community that they represent. I'd like to see more businesses and members of the community get involved in our schools. Parents obviously have a direct stake in what is happening in the day to day operations of our schools. I would like to see all members of our community take pride in what our children are accomplishing at all levels.
