Elected to the Fresno Unified School District Board of Education in November 2002, Ms. Medina served as Board President in 2005 and 2006. The Board is responsible for overseeing the operations of the fourth largest school district in the state, with 78,000 students and a budget of $800 million. Ms. Medina is currently employed as the Development Director for Central California Legal Services. CCLS is the primary provider of free civil legal services in the Central Valley to eligible low-income individuals, including low-wage workers, victims of domestic violence and seniors. CCLS provides assistance in numerous areas including domestic violence and elder abuse prevention, landlord/tenant, healthcare access, education and youth law, consumer law, community economic development, employee rights and taxpayer assistance. Her previous employment includes 15 years as the Executive Director for Centro La Familia, a local non-profit agency working to improve the lives of Fresno children and families. From 1995-98, she was the Chief Operations Officer for the Fresno Private Industry Council, the precursor to the Fresno Area Workforce Investment Corporation. Over twenty-five years of experience as an advocate for children and families in Fresno County.
