Hindering future redistrictingBy Todd R WhiteCandidate for Governing Board Member; El Dorado Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Students should be able to go to school within their community.Over the past year and a half many parents have fought to put to rest redistricting of our high schools. This is because redistricting would send students to schools outside of their community. We need a board that will listen to parents concerns on this issue, and we need a board that will understand that students need to go to a school that is closest to their homes. Resdistricting is not only a concern of parents, but a concern to homeowners in general. If somebody with children wants to move into the community and they come to look at a house that's close to Ponderosa for example, but that home has been redistricted to go to El Dorado High School, than that home is not going to be as competitive on the housing market, because parents will not want to buy a home where their children have to go to school outside their community. |
