EXPERIENCE AND COMMITMENT
Tim Cary graduated from Indiana University with a double-major degree in Political Science and History. Tim then served in the U.S. Peace Corps in the Philippines as an Agricultural Advisor, where he met his future wife, Carol, who also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer. After Peace Corps, Tim worked at the U.S. General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C., auditing U.S. government programs. In 1986, Tim obtained his law degree from the University of Virginia.
Tim has a long tradition of community service. In addition to Peace Corps and sixteen years of school district service, he has been a volunteer at the Zaccheus Medical Clinic in Washington D.C. and at the University College Hospital E.R. in London, England. He has served as a volunteer lawyer for CASA, providing legal services to children in need, and has been a member of the El Dorado County Committee on School District Organization since 1994.
Tim Cary served on the Buckeye School Board for twelve years. Tim was appointed to the El Dorado Union High School District School Board in 2001, and elected to a four year term in 2002; he has served as Board President for the last two years. He manages his own law firm, specializing in education law, and serves as general legal counsel and chief labor negotiator for school districts. His wife, Carol Cary graduated from California Lutheran University. She has volunteered in El Dorado County schools since 1989, and also worked in a group foster home. She currently runs her own web-based business, ElenaOleta Designs, and works at Tim's law firm; she previously served as the Co-Treasurer of Ponderosa's Sober Grad Night. Their daughter Eve graduated from Ponderosa in 2002 and from Georgetown University in 2006. Their daughter Felice graduated from Ponderosa in 2004, and is a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The family attends New Hope Fellowship Church in Shingle Springs. |
