Retired high school and college teacher with over PREVIOUS TEACHING POSITIONS: College of Marin- 1967-1979, founder of Ethnic Studies. Wallenberg High School, San Francisco, 1983-1998.Teacher of Advanced Placement classes: Spanish and Spanish Literature. Department chair of World Languages, Art and Music. Tamalpais High School, Mill Valley, Ca. 1967-1982. Taught history, Spanish. and department chair of history department. Marin Catholic High School- Marin County, and Daniel Murphy High School, Los Angeles 1962-1965, as a member of the Dominican Order. Retired San Francisco Unified School District 1998. SPEAKER'S BUREAU FOR AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL: 1980's-2006 National chair of the Educator's Network of Amnesty International (1993-1997) Areas of expertise: Mexico, Central America, labor isues, human rights issues, human rights education. Native American rights (U.S. and Mexico). NUMEROUS FACT FINDING MISSIONS TO MEXICO AND CENTRAL AMERICA: 1980'S to the present. Areas of expertise: Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Mexico. Gathered information of human rights abuses for Americas Watch, Amnesty International, Comision Estatal de Derechos Humanos de Puebla, Mexico, Queretaro,Chiapas, Morelos and also la Comision Nacional de Derechos Humanos de Mexico. And also for human rights organizations of the Catholic Church in Mexico and Central America.(llamada la Comision de Derechos Humanos ). Fact finding delegations and voter observation with Global Exchange in Mexico (4 delegations). PRESENTER OF WORKSHOPS ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND EDUCATION: Queretaro, D.F. Mexico, Puebla for Amnestia Internacional y la Comsion Nacional de Derechos Humanos de Mexico.1996,1997,1998,1999,2000 . Summer workshops, taught in Spanish. Only U.S. presenter AREAS OF EXPERTISE: Labor history, Latin American History, HumanRights Education, Liberation Theology .
