Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Orinda

My Vision for Orinda is to maintain our small and unique town in a way that is fiscally sound and intelligently planned to insure careful growth while maintaining our high quality of life.

My thoughts for making Orinda better:

• Responsible fiscal planning so what little money the city has will be spent wisely. My legal and business background allow for me to understand financial budgets and priorities, and have given me complex problem solving and leadership skills to make informed and balanced decisions for the benefit of all of Orinda.

• Fix the roads and infrastructure through proper long range planning. The city is now faced with asking for a special bond from the citizens; this is a problem that should have been addressed many years ago.

• Work with the school district, especially on the JFK/Pine Grove project, in order to achieve maximum benefits for our schools so our children will have the greatest opportunities and will thrive outside Orinda.

• Balance the interests of property owners so there is pride in ownership and an excitement about interaction in and with the City.

• Revitalize the business areas of Orinda by updating economic policies to attract and foster a healthy business climate so we have places to eat, shop and get services; this results in more sales tax dollars to the city.

• Listen to and get input from people in Orinda in an inclusive citywide teamwork style while maintaining a high quality of life in our growing community. Instead of secret Council Committee meetings and sole sourcing contracts that favor those with inside connections, we can create a collaborative effort of interests in which Orinda can flourish.
