Attract more TeachersBy David B. RichardsCandidate for Governing Board Member; Fremont Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Fremont is not able to attract enough qualified and properly motivated teachers for some of the required disciplines.Money is the most effective means of motivation. The State has very rigid and relatively inequitable funding for teachers salaries considering the cost of real estate in our area. The only way to solve this problem is to pass a parcel tax or bond. To insure that the community is getting something in return for their generosity, this money can be distributed in the form of bonuses to teachers whose students show a better than average improvement over the school year. This bonus coupled with the inherent altruistic nature of teachers will produce successful learning environment. In this bonus plan teachers are paid based on their performance. There will be a formula to calculate teachers bonuses based on each child's incoming and final standardized test scores. A software package will be developed to calculate this information for the District. Someone just enters test scores and the bonus plan computes the bonuses thus removing some of the politics. Our Children will define our future. They are our most important resource. No sacrifice is too great to arm then with knowledge and reason so they can conquer the challenges of tomorrow. |
