Political Philosophy for Michael K. "Mike" Rich
Candidate for |
I have followed national politics since the age of 7, when television coverage of men landing on the moon sparked an interest in news and world affairs. My recent decision to run for City Council in Alameda, California, follows a lifetime of following politics, along with 20 years of work with local and regional government. I believe that my experience and creativity can make a positive impact on the quality of life in the town where I live. My political philosophy is that the process to reach a political outcome can be as important as the outcome, because good process has a better chance of resulting in a positive outcome. Moreover, the process is, in and of itself, an outcome, in that it can positively or negatively affect our sense of community. For these reasons, I believe politics should strive to be open, inclusive, and civil, in order to create conditions that will foster meaningful and creative dialogue on important issues. |
