CREATE A VIBRANT HIGH SCHOOL

We must transform San Leandro High School into the flagship campus of the District. I strongly support Measure B, the local school bond on the November ballot. If passed, the measure would relieve overcrowding at the high school. The bond would also create a new campus for ninth-grade students so they receive much-needed one-on-one attention from teachers and support staff. San Leandro High would also be home to a new arts education center, featuring a 450-seat theater and modern classrooms for visual and performing arts, as well as expanding career technical educational programs.

MAINTAIN A SOUND BUDGET

We must ensure that the District spends every dollar wisely and in alignment with its mission. By continuing to pursue available dollars from innovative grants and from the state, we can attract and retain qualified staff, and protect valuable programs. The Board must always adopt a fiscally responsible budget that look for ways to conserve and maximize precious resources.

ENCOURAGE PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

San Leandro is proud of its champion sport teams, award-winning school programs like AVID and DECA, and stellar musical and performing arts events. These programs undoubtedly succeed because of the families that support them. We must continue to engage parents in their student's learning by showing them how to access vital services and become informed advocates for their children.
