Aimee Allison, a 36-year old writer, teacher, and business consultant, has lived in Oakland since 1991. She earned a Bachelors in History and a Masters in Education from Stanford University and went on teach history and social studies in a bilingual high school classroom. Aimee's public service extends back to when she served as student body president at Stanford University and was an organizer with the Black Student Union.

After several years of service as a medic in the Army Reserves, Aimee's experience caring for veterans at the under funded Palo Alto Veterans Hospital and recognition of war's long-term impact on the lives of families led her to apply for and receive an honorable discharge as a Conscientious Objector during the Persian Gulf War. Her commitment to support veterans and to advocate for peace continues today. She is known for counseling soldiers and educating young people about alternatives to military service.

A mother and an active community member, Aimee has been part of a number of efforts to improve Oakland. She founded and organized the Fall Festival in the Grand Lake neighborhood. She participated in the campaign to put inclusionary zoning on the ballot and supported the efforts of the Oak-to-Ninth coalition to demand responsible development. Most recently, Aimee was one of several young leaders who worked to convince Ron Dellums to run for mayor.

Aimee also led the effort to press the Oakland City Council to pass a resolution calling for the return of the National Guard, so that services would not be disrupted in the event of a natural disaster. Aimee Allison's dedication to children, families, and Oakland's future has led her to run for Oakland City Council. Aimee lives with her husband, Aaron Baluyot and son in the Grand Lake neighborhood.
