Occupation: Sociologist, Social Justice Advocate, Former Treasurer of the Marin County Democratic Central Committee.

Money is poisoning our political system. Candidate fund-raising is out of control while corporations and lobbyists have turned the state into an ATM machine. Working people and their families are getting screwed while the politicians spend all of their time raising money and not attending to the people's business. Every dollar raised is a favor owed. We must erect a firewall in Sacramento between the lobbyists and the legislature. No more campaign contributions, free lunches or ski trips. No more private meetings and secret pacts. If lobbyists wish to be heard, let them do it in writing on the internet, or in committee meetings like the rest of us.

There are real problems that need to be addressed + Such as working families who are barely able to make ends meet because corporations pay so little taxes that the state is unable to provide essential services or health care. + Such as the young people who are kept from taking their places as adults in our society due to dismal job prospects and depressed wages.

We need to elect someone who will represent us, not another patsy for big business or developers.
