Political Philosophy for Douglas "Doug" Drummond
Candidate for |

|
I've been in Long Beach all my life. I am proud to have served this community for nearly 40 years as Vice Mayor, a two-term City Council member, and prior to that as a police officer, sergeant, lieutenant, captain and commander. I believe Long Beach is a great city, but I have some serious concerns about our public safety, neighborhoods, the city budget, infrastructure and many other areas. That's why I'm running for Mayor in 2006. When it comes to fixing Long Beach's problems, we've heard a lot of excuses from our city government. I say, "NO MORE EXCUSES!" As Mayor, I will bring experience and new ideas to the office. I wrote this booklet to share with you some of the changes I would make to balance the budget, keep our streets safe, rebuild neighborhoods, fix the streets, attract good jobs for our economy, restore our wetlands and keep our libraries open. I am a candidate who is not afraid to take positions on important issues. I do research, get input from those affected and carefully consider the options before making a decision based on what is best for the people of Long Beach. Then I take a stand and take action. That is the only way to serve as Mayor. I hope you will take the time to review my proposals. You can find out more about my candidacy at my Web site, http://www.drummond4mayor.com. |
