I have kept my promises for 29 years.CANDIDATE STATEMENT I am a candidate for Ventura City Council because my active participation can be traced back to July 11, 1977. I hereby promise: A.) I would be an elected representative who would "meet & confer" with every citizen who resides in the City of San Buenaventura. B.) I would bring "every concern" forward to the full City Council after such "meet & confer." C.) Our present City Council printed the ABC'S of "The Basics For A Good Life In Ventura" and made "A" mean Accountable Government; Made "C" mean Civic Engagement yet too many residents finds this claim rings hollow. I am a witness: 1.) I am a witness to broken promises and silence from our Ventura City Councilmembers since 1977 when it comes to "representation" of the residents in our city. 2.) I ask you when you enter your polling booth to take a "five second" reflection on what it takes to log 42 hours, five minutes at a time, at Monday Night City Council meetings. Hero Up I grew up in Ventura not timing my life away full-time job lots of fun lots of play I was a babe as my time turned VenturaCityCouncil voted 6 to 1 to help me learn But I grew straight but I grew tall everyone took me for granted even City Hall But my roots went deep into this land so there I stood for my five minute stand Will they let me talk must I wait just take five and let the Council mediate I logged over 42 hours by a 5 minute scale every Monday Night City Council could only yell When I speak seconds time my life away a hero lasts 5 minutes longer I heard Ralph Waldo Emerson say ---Copyright © 2005/1991 - Carroll "CD" Williams hero-up, v.; "A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minuter longer."
