Strong public schools are the foundation of a healthy democracy and a thriving economy.Name: Patricia Wright Age: 48 Occupation: Incumbent Strong public schools are the foundation of a healthy democracy and a thriving economy. The Redwood City School District has recently raised test scores dramatically while our funding sources have dropped by almost $8 million. This is phenomenal. Yet we cannot be satisfied with our successes or paralyzed by our financial challenges. We must improve the education of all students (English speaking and English learners, gifted and at-risk) with intervention programs, class size reduction, and high quality teachers. We must also look for additional, recurring funding sources to maintain these successful programs. Four years ago, my goal for this district, was to prepare all students for a successful future by providing extra support in math and English; accelerating the pace students learn English; increasing academic scores throughout the district. These will remain my focus for the next four years. As our district searches for new leadership to implement these goals, I will place a priority on hiring an outstanding superintendent: One who actively promotes communication and trust, improves test scores, and practices fiscal responsibility. Our children deserve no less. Please help strengthen our schools by electing me to the Redwood City School District Board for the next four years.
