I was born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area. I'm a fourth generation Californian. I graduated from San Francisco State University with Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in English and Creative Writing. I worked for a number of successful years as a paralegal and helped lead and shape this important profession that now allows for more access and at a lower cost to legal services for all of us. I worked for over 14 years at the great Hewlett-Packard Company in Silicon Valley and while there made a career change from the world of law to the world of marketing. I left HP as a product marketing manager in the computer/software area in 2002. I started my own consulting business, Ruse Consulting (http://www.lassoideas.com), focusing on helping businesses and organizations find ideas and use them through marketing, strategies, and idea generation. I am a trained volunteer docent at the beautiful Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach and a board member of the Friends of the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. In addition, I was part of a county-sponsored water quality project for over 4 years. I'm a member of the Half-Moon Bay Chamber of Commerce, Women in Consulting, Palo Alto Run Club, Earth Justice, and Audubon, My interests include running, tennis, yoga, reading, playing the piano, and listening to music (especially jazz, classical and good 'ole Rock and Roll).
