Ballot StatementBy Shelly MasurCandidate for Board Member; Redwood City School District; 2 Year Term | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
This is the statement provided to voters in the sample ballotI am a parent of three children in the Redwood City Schools, a current school board member, and the director of a non-profit dedicated to adolescent health. I believe that all children deserve a quality education that meets their needs and prepares them to be productive members of society. I believe that parent involvement is key to student success. Schools must work with parents, provide opportunities for involvement, and be responsive to their suggestions and concerns. I believe that sound fiscal management coupled with community partnerships is the most effective way to ensure that our schools offer the best education possible. So I make the following promises to you: I will work hard for our children. I will continue the work I've started in working with schools and parents to make sure Redwood City provides an excellent education for all its students. I will be available to you. It is important for the community to feel comfortable talking to their school board members. We are elected by and are accountable to you. I will continue to look for ways to leverage the resources we have by fostering collaboration with the City of Redwood City, community based organizations and the district. |
