Political Philosophy for Richard Holober

San Mateo County's three community colleges are the best bargain in higher education. Skyline College, College of San Mateo and Caņada College open doors to a brighter tomorrow for the 40,000 students we serve each year. It has been a privilege to serve as your elected Trustee since 1997. I have worked for excellence in higher education. Our district ranks near the very top statewide in student success, measured by rates of degree completion and transfer to four year colleges. I have promoted innovation. We are the first community college district in California where one can receive a bachelor's degree. We train our residents for good jobs. We're expanding our capacity to train registered nurses, health technicians and firefighters. When airlines downsized, we quickly re-trained laid off workers for high wage jobs at local biotech firms. I have made sure our district is fiscally prudent. We always balance our budget. We've brought in over $100 million from outside the district to modernize our facilities. Community colleges change lives. I want to continue providing effective education leadership. I respectfully ask for your vote for re-election. |
