Candidate for
Council Member; City of San Carlos

Born and raised in northeast Ohio, Matt is a graduate of Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio. Attending WRA on full scholarship, he became captain of the wrestling team and graduated with honors in architectural studies.

In 1977, Matt enrolled at the University of Florida, Gainesville to study architecture and to compete in wrestling. Later, he transfered to Clemson University in South Carolina and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Design (Architecture) in 1981.

Today he has his own residential design firm, Grocott Design * Home & Remodel, specializing in the design of new homes, remodels & additions.

Organizations for which he has served include: president of the American Institute of Building Design, Golden Gate Chapter; board member of the Barnabas Counseling Center; and office of deacon in the Presbyterian Church, USA.

Matt is currently a civic member of the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce, San Carlos LIONS club, and a Healthy Cities Tutor.

On behalf of the City (as a Council member), Matt serves on the SFO Airport Community Roundtable, the San Mateo County Library JPA Board, C/CAG's Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee and the Airport Land Use Committee.
