With the loss of our recent fire Chief (Paul Wilson), selection of the next chief is extremely important.
Stability in the leadership of the fire district has been a problem for some time due to the high turn over rate of the fire chief position. While the employees of the district have fared quite well and maintained excellent moral, it is essential that a long term fire chief with exceptional leadership abilities be selected to head the Menlo Park Fire District. In addition to outstanding management skills, our next fire chief should have excellent people skills. A fire chief who can mentor subordinate officers to attain higher ranks within the organization. One with an outstanding career development program where employees can see how to advance with a strong desire to do so. We should have the ability to "grow our own" fire chief in the future.
