While each juristiction has very good disaster plans, it is critical that all the plans are intigrated with each other so that all agencies can work together in the event of a disasterous event.Many aspect of emergency operations are needed to mitigate a disaster. A communications system where all agencies can talk to one another, a mutually agreed upon evacuation sites and directions, A flexable or mobile command center where leaders of each juristiction can gather and have face to face communications, effective utilization of all city and district employees, all agencies recognize the importance of our newly formed Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members and utilize their training to help their neighborhoods. It is important that all the agencies look at the operations that took place during the recent hurricane Katrina and learn from the mistakes that took place there to improve our systems. |
